our origin story
In 2019, Leah and Kayla met while studying at BCIT and quickly bonded over their shared passion for design, strong work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit. However, as solo-entrepreneurs working from home, they felt disconnected from the design community they craved. To bridge this gap, they founded The Designers Common, a dynamic and uplifting networking group where fellow designers could connect, discuss industry topics, and collaborate on ideas. The Designers Common has become a thriving community that nurtures and motivates its members.
In December 2023, after helping grow TDC into what it is today, Kayla moved on to pursue new passions. Leah looks forward to continuing that growth into the future.
Leah owns Ranger Design Co., an event, commercial and residential interior design company based in Kelowna. with a focus on intentional design, she creates unique and sustainable design solutions using principles that improve health and wellbeing. Coming from an events background with a passion for bringing people together, it was only natural for Leah to dive into all things TDC.
